Eric Stellrecht

Mr. Stellrecht joined the faculty of the East Carolina University School of Music in 2003, where he is the primary collaborative pianist in the Department of Vocal Studies.  Since then he has overseen the musical preparation of many operatic productions for ECU’s Opera Theater, including Die Zauberflöte, Così fan tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro, Maria Stuarda, The Consul, The Medium, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lizzie Borden, and Madama Butterfly; Upcoming productions include Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Riders to the Sea and Mozart’s Idomeneo. He is a frequent participant in the New Music Festival at East Carolina University – premiering works by Gary Smart, Salvatore Macchia, and performing music of Morton Feldman. In addition, Stellrecht has been a member of the artist faculty at the New York State Summer School of the Arts since 2007. For over a decade prior to that, he was a collaborative pianist at Interlochen Arts Camp. He has also been a member of the music staff for the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Stellrecht is in frequent demand as a professional accompanist, and has collaborated with outstanding young artists at the Kingsville International Young Performers’ Competition and the Orpheus National Voice Competition, among others. A native of Wisconsin, Stellrecht began piano study at the age of ten. He earned degrees in piano performance from the University of Wisconsin, Superior and the University of Michigan, and took additional advanced graduate studies at the University of Arizona.
