School of Ballet Application Process

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2018 School of Ballet.

To audition for the School of Ballet, students should complete the application form and return it at least two weeks before the scheduled date of the audition selected. Students are strongly encouraged to pre-register to ensure space at your preferred audition location.

Eligibility: Students must be full-time New York State residents and currently enrolled in grades 6 through 12 (proof of residency may be requested).

Format: Each audition will consist of a 20-minute to one hour period of classroom work. Please bring leotards, tights, and ballet slippers to the audition. Girls should also bring pointe shoes.

Evaluation: Auditions will be conducted by Artistic Directors Daniel Ulbricht and Amanda Edge. Adjudicators will evaluate and rate your performance on the basis of their observations during the audition session. Students MUST attend a live audition- no exceptions are permitted.

Notification: You will be notified by email about the outcome of your audition after all auditions have been concluded.  Please do not call the NYSSSA office for results- NYSSSA will not release audition results prior to the conclusion of all School of Ballet Auditions.

Special Notes: Please note, in order to provide equal sized audition classes so that all students may be appropriately seen by Artistic Faculty, students may be requested to audition in another audition class.
