School of Choral Studies Auditions
Applications for the 2019 season are now available. Recorded auditions must be submitted or postmarked by January 31, 2020. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; however, it is to your advantage to submit your application materials by January 31, 2020.
If you are interested in attending the School of Choral Studies, you must audition successfully to become a member or alternate. You may audition for NYSSSA either by attending one of the live auditions held at different locations around the state OR by submitting a recorded video audition. No preference is given to live or recorded auditions.
APPLICATION FORM: To participate in the audition process, complete the application form.
SOLO: You should perform a prepared vocal selection to demonstrate your technical and musical abilities.
SCALES: Prepare two scales: a major scale (ascending and descending) and a melodic minor scale (ascending and descending) in any key you prefer.
REQUIRED SELECTION: You must prepare the required selection, which will be an important part of your audition.
Recorded Audition Requirements
Audition recordings will not be adjudicated without a completed application form.
Complete recorded auditions (your solo, scales, and the required selection) can be sent by:
