School of Choral Studies Opening Day

Registration will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2016.  All students will register in Igoe Hall Lobby 

Placement auditions for voice studio assignments and choral sections will be held on Sunday evening, July 3rd as well as during the day on Monday, July 4th. Please prepare a short solo piece to sing with piano accompaniment that best represents your vocal ability. (Be sure to bring a clean copy of the music for the pianist to read from.)  You will also be asked to vocalize (to check your range), sight-read, and take a short music theory test. At the conclusion of these auditions, the faculty will assign you a voice part and number for the choir (which may be different than your solo voice type), vocal studio, musicianship (theory) class, small ensembles, and theatre arts class. Please plan to bring any repertoire that you would like to study in any of the required classes or lessons.

 Transportation to and from the School at the beginning and end of the program is the responsibility of each individual student and parent(s).  A shuttle to the Fredonia campus will be provided for students arriving in Buffalo by train or plane. Pick-up at the Buffalo-Niagara Airport will be at approximately 3:00 PM, followed by pick-up at the Amtrak (Depew) Train Station at approximately 3:30 PM.  Please let the NYSSSA office know as soon as possible, but no later than May 30th if you will be requesting the shuttle service (518-474-8773 or nysssa@nysed.gov). We will need to know your mode of transportation and expected arrival time. Megabus also offers bus service from New York City to the Buffalo airport. Megabus can be reached at www.megabus.com or 1-877-462-6342. Students who will be arriving in Buffalo after the shuttle pick-up times should plan to use the connecting bus service via Coach USA to the Fredonia campus.  Coach USA can be reached at 1-(800)-352-0979 for fares and schedules. Please let us know if you plan to travel from Buffalo to Fredonia via Coach USA since this bus service may get you to the campus after student registration hours.

A KEY is provided for each dormitory room. A $20.00 key deposit is to be paid by the student at registration. This will be refunded upon return of the key at the close of the program. Your check should be brought with you to registration and made payable to SUNY Fredonia.

Students are responsible for the neatness of their rooms. A $25.00 room deposit must be paid at registration. When room is inspected at close of program, this fee will be refunded if room is in proper condition. Your check should be brought with you to registration and made payable to SUNY Fredonia.
