A Sample Day at the School of Orchestral Studies

A typical schedule may look like the following:

Get ready for the day and have Breakfast in the Skidmore College Dining Hall.
9:00am-12:00pm
Full Orchestra in the beautiful Zankel Auditorium (Monday through Saturday).
12:00-1:00pm
Lunch at Skidmore
1:00-3:00pm
First afternoon section. Students will either be in small Chamber ensemble, String Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Wind Ensemble or have practice time.
3:00-5:00pm
Second afternoon section including Chamber ensembles, String Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Wind Ensemble or have practice time.
5:00-7:00pm
Dinner and free time.
7:00-10:00pm
Evening section. For the final 3 weeks of the program, during the Philadelphia Orchestra's residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC), students will have the opportunity to attend all evening performances of the Orchestra. On non- concert nights, students will be in Chamber ensembles, String orchestra, Chamber Strings or Wind Ensembles. Students may also participate in elective lectures and all students will have the opportunity to attend a performance of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center during their residency in Saratoga.
